This fundamental principle has led to the development of the ILIASSU system and to a broader field of investigation beyond the traditional boundaries of contemporary painting.
ILIASSU Research explores the principles of adaptive physical surfaces, investigating how movement, material and physical transformation can become intrinsic qualities of real-world surfaces rather than digitally simulated effects.
Originating from artistic practice, this research has resulted in an independent body of knowledge with potential relevance for design, architecture, mobility, human–machine interaction and future material systems.
The development of the ILIASSU system has been supported by independent artistic research, a publicly funded research and development project co-financed by the European Social Fund (ESF), and continuous interdisciplinary dialogue between art, science and technology.
ILIASSU Research serves as an open platform for dialogue and knowledge transfer, welcoming museums, curators, cultural institutions, selected research partners, industry and funding organisations interested in the future development and application of adaptive physical surfaces.
